Increasing Number of Russian missile attacks on Ukraine

On Sunday, Russian missiles struck an apartment building and a kindergarten in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, as world leaders convened in Europe to consider new sanctions against Moscow.

It was the first such attack on the Ukrainian capital in weeks, with up to four blasts rocking central Kyiv.

Kyiv was struck again by the Russians

“Kyiv was struck again by the Russians.” Andriy Yermak, the head of the president’s administration, reported that missiles had destroyed an apartment complex and a kindergarten.

In a kindergarten with broken windows, a photographer noticed a massive bomb hole near the playground. According to Deputy Mayor Mykola Povoroznyk, six people were injure and one person was kill. He claim that explosions heard later in Kyiv were cause by air defences destroying more inbound missiles.

A key eastern Ukrainian city has fallen to pro-Russian rebels as a result of Russian airstrikes this weekend.

Even though air raid sirens sounded around the city, life had returned to normal in Kyiv after intense resistance had thwarted Russian advances in the early stages of the war. Since the beginning of June, there have been no major strikes in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.

After the strike on Sunday, the mayor of the city, Vitali Klitschko, post on the messaging app Telegram that several residents were bury in the rubble of a nine-story apartment building. According to a Ukrainian air force spokesman, the attack was carried out by Russian aircraft in the Astrakhan region of southern Russia, using four long-range missiles. One person was killed and five others were injured when Russian missiles hit the centre city of Cherkasy, which had been mostly spared from shelling until now, according to regional authorities.

President Oleksiy Arestovych claimed the strike also hit a critical bridge that connects western Ukraine to eastern Ukraine. According to his message, “They are trying to limit the movement of our reserves and Western armaments to the eastern,”.

In an apparent reference to the strikes that Ukraine reported on Saturday, Russia’s defence ministry claimed that it had deployed high-precision weaponry to strike Ukrainian army training centres in Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, and Lviv. The attacks on Kyiv and Cherkasy on Sunday went unmentioned at the time.

Ukraine and the West accuse Russia’s military of war crimes in a conflict that has killed hundreds, forced millions to flee Ukraine, and destroyed towns. Russia denies targeting people.

According to a pro-Russian separatist official quoted by the RIA news agency. Separatist forces evacuated the Azot chemical facility in Sievierodonetsk on Sunday, evacuating more than 250 people, including children.
